Welcome to the Friends of the Allentown Parks

Allentown’s green spaces belong to all of us — and together, we keep them thriving.

From the shaded trails of Cedar Beach to the open fields of Fountain Park, Allentown’s parks are where neighbors become friends, kids discover nature, and our community comes alive. The Friends of the Allentown Parks is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, improving, and celebrating every corner of our city’s park system.

What We Do

We work hand-in-hand with the City of Allentown to go beyond what municipal budgets alone can accomplish. Through volunteer programs, fundraising, and community advocacy, we help fund park improvements, organize clean-up days, plant trees, restore natural habitats, and bring events and programming to the parks you love.

Get Involved

You don’t have to be a park expert to make a difference — you just have to care.

Volunteer — Join one of our seasonal workdays and get your hands in the dirt alongside fellow park lovers. Run one of our summer programs and bring your passion to the park.

Donate — Every dollar goes directly toward projects that make Allentown’s parks cleaner, greener, and more welcoming for everyone.

Stay Connected — Sign up for our newsletter to hear about upcoming events, new projects, and ways to get involved.

Why Parks Matter

Parks reduce stress, improve health, connect neighbors, and give children room to grow. In a city as vibrant as Allentown, our parks are not a luxury — they are the living heart of our neighborhoods. When we invest in parks, we invest in each other.

Friends of Allentown Parks is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.

We’re excited to share a new community partnership that brings hands-on science learning directly to Allentown’s parks!

Kelly believed every student deserved the chance to reach their full potential

Kelly Denny Stoops Memorial Scholarship Fund

This July marked 10 years since we lost Kelly Denny Stoops, whose passion for students and education in the Allentown Area touched countless lives. To honor her memory and continue her mission, we've established the Kelly Denny Stoops Memorial Scholarship Fund.

This scholarship covers those essential "extra items" that students need to pursue education beyond high school – the tools that can make the difference between struggling and succeeding.

We're proud to share that our very first recipient is a first-generation college student who starts classes this Thursday and needed a laptop to begin their educational journey. Thanks to Kelly's legacy and your generosity, they're equipped for success.

Kelly believed every student deserved the chance to reach their full potential. Help us continue her work by supporting future students who need that extra boost to achieve their dreams.
